Prison Literacy Project
Free science-based reading instructional programs, free teacher trainings and free back-up support for correctional institutions in the United States.
We are giving away our Orton-Gillingham based phonics program and our Morphological Awareness Training program to any correctional institution. We are currently training prison teachers who are using the materials, and have trained inmates who are teaching other inmates how to read. We believe this is the most efficient method to combat illiteracy in our prisons. Our materials are based on the science of reading and have been sold for the last 28 years benefitting many struggling readers.
Phonics for Literacy Program – Orton-Gillingham based phonics program used successfully with dyslexic and reading disabled readers for many years.
Morphology for Literacy Program – which teaches higher level reading, comprehension and vocabulary through the study of root words, prefixes, suffixes and word origins. It is used with students with a strong 4th grade level or higher. It is currently used from elementary school to college and is a great vocabulary builder. Great for use in GED classes.
These materials are in PDF format which can be sent anywhere in a few minutes and we generally do trainings via zoom. Please send your name and phone number to kmorgan@hubwest.com and we will get back to you ASAP.
